The Sparta, Mich.-based shipper hired Pam Schwallier, an industry veteran with more than 30 years in apple sales, as a saleswoman. Don Armock, president of Riveridge, said Schwallier has worked with numerous companies throughout her career, and was a one-woman sales department in her most recent position.
Russ Kluting, who is new to the produce industry, is working in logistics for the company.

“He’s doing scheduling and trucking,” Armock said. “Really, he's in a sales assistant job, because those are all related to sales activities.”
Armock said Kluting’s position could evolve into a sales position.
Kluting was most recently an engineer at General Motors, Armock said. He was there for more than 10 years.
The company also acquired a new facility and some of the personnel that go with it, Armock said. Alpine Apple Haus Inc., Sparta, is now part of Riveridge.

“We’ve sold their products for 20-plus years, now we just own that facility,” Armock said.
Sally Lutz, who was already running the facility, will continue to run it for Riveridge, Armock said.
