The USDA is seeking offers to sell fresh fuji apples to the agency.

The USDA solicitation, issued March 7, specifies that deliveries will be made between April 21-24. USDA acceptances of offers from suppliers will be announced by March 27, according to a news release.

The contract specialist handling for this purchase will be Nick Wiber at nick.wiber@usda.gov, the release said.

The USDA reports the U.S. shipping point price average for fuji apples on March 2 was $26.84 per carton, down from $31.35 per carton at the same time a year ago.

The U.S. shipping point price average for all varieties of apples on March 2 was $28.46 per carton, down from $33.34 per carton at the same time a year ago, according to USDA numbers.
